Red Hand Day

The Dallaire Institute commemorated #RedHandDay, the International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers, which is marked every year on February 12th.

The event included youth voices, highlighting the importance of ending the recruitment and use of children, as well as remarks from Dallaire Institute staff and partners in Rwanda.

"Preventing violence against children in the context of armed conflict requires a dual lens that is focused on prioritizing the protection of children’s rights, as well as understanding the significant operational impacts associated with the use of children as soldiers."
-- Dr. Shelly Whitman, Executive Director of the Dallaire Institute
